After my normal blog-surfing, I have come across a blog that talks about apartment DIY projects. This blog, apartmenttherapy.com, is brilliant if you like before and after pictures of apartment renovations, and easy DIY, budget-friendly projects for your own place.
But MOSTLY it made me realize that I have an extremely under-used entry way into my apartment. They recommend turning your entry way into a “landing-strip”, a place for your keys, your mail, your coat, your shoes…maybe even someplace to sit.
I LOVE this idea. I already have a mirror in my entry way, and I think it would be easy enough to get a shelf that doubled as a coat hook/key holder kind of deal. I even got a drill for Christmas ( I know, what? I even asked for it!), so this is entirely feasible. My hallway is fairly narrow, however, so I’m not sure I have a place for shoes or a chair. But a welcome mat is definitely doable, too.
My only concern about moving forward with this idea is that I am moving to a new apartment in July; is it worth it to make changes in my current apartment when I will be leaving it in 6 months? Or should I wait until I move to my new digs? I know my new apartment has a much more open entry way that would have room for a bench or shoe rack, maybe even an umbrella stand.
So do I make small changes now and enjoy 6 months of an improved entry way, or just bide my time/ideas until July?
